Shop Update

Wedding Mobile

I am loving this custom color mix. I just sent a pair of these mobiles to a customer from Canada. They will be part of her wedding reception decorations. They feel like summer to me.

Corner Store Envy

It's like someone went in my brain when I was sleeping and pulled this image out....how did this happen????? This picture perfectly captures my ultimate retail fantasy. I have a serious, serious dream of opening a charming corner store with my lovely lady friends. Believe me when I say I have spent countless hours playing a scenario that looks very much like this picture out in my head. And countless conversations have taken place about how we might make this fantasy a reality. Maybe someday when:

1. The recession is over.

2. My adopted city of Portland decides to grow up and get over it's thrift store and DIY aesthetic. Portland has it's charms but high end design, fashion and retail is not on that list....YET!

3. It's been so long that the reasons why I don't want to return to the life of a shopkeeper fade away completely.

In the mean time I will continue to dream and enjoy the inspiration provided in this lovely image of the new Selvedge shop.

Custom Mobile

I just made this custom color mix for an interior designer from Atlanta. She will be incorporating it into a showhouse room that she is putting together. Thanks Naomi!

More Embroidery

I was so inspired by the discovery of Renilde's embroidery that I went to my book shelves and pulled out one of my most treasured books to share with you. It is an old book of embroidery styles for lettering. Isn't the typography great and I love the black and blue color combination. 

I was so inspired in fact that I went to my local needle work shop today and purchased a great big handful of embroidery floss. The colors choices are so incredible...like candy! I had to stop myself from buying them all. I hope that I find time to stitch something soon while the impulse if fresh.

Yes...I am a big fan of Martha so right now I'm smiling and doing a little happy dance! Well...maybe you could call it a big happy dance.
